Achieving nutritional requirements
Infants and children who have faltering growth will need additional energy and protein compared to the recommended amount for their weight1. In infants this can be accomplished by fortifying breastmilk, supplementing breastfed babies with formula, fortifying formula or using specialized supplements. For babies on solids and older children, fortifying solid foods with extra calories by adding energy dense products such as cheese, butter and dried full fat milk powder to foods can help.
